There was a giant space rock about 9 miles wide. In an explosion one billion times more powerful than the atomic bomb blast at Hiroshima, the asteroid smashed into Mexico. In a matter of days, more than half of the species on earth were wiped out including the dinosaurs. This happened around 65 million years ago.

When I traveled east, I think in New Mexico or thereabouts, I passed by the giant meteor crater – I was fascinated but for some reason I didn’t go in. In the movie Starman, his quest was to rendezvous with his people there. Maybe since I saw it in a movie I thought I didn’t have to see it, I don’t know.
I’m glad I didn’t do the same with the Grand Canyon though.
